Playing Online Bingo for Charity

The online bingo industry is one of the fastest growing businesses of recent times. Only a few years after its conception, it now has a turnover of over six hundred million pounds in the UK alone, and during the recession the number of players has risen significantly. Online bingo makes most of its profit from the US, although it is also popular in Japan -surprisingly, Britain is only the third biggest country in the industry. Unlike many international industries however, the online bingo companies are not being selfish with their money -as a number of websites that have set up bingo games for charity have proved.
Many companies have set up online bingo games in which all the benefits go directly to charity. In one case, a game was set up where the winner would receive a football signed by a predominant international football star, a move which was clearly designed to encourage men to play, in order to move bingo’s stereotype away from just women. The proceeds from this game went towards a cystic fibrosis charity. Another company has recently been set up, which is dedicated completely to and will raise money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust. This is a charitable organisation that helps to organise sailing trips for disabled people, and all the profit from the bingo site will go towards this too.

Because this kind of bingo is online it is available to a very wide market of people, and is therefore in an excellent position to raise money for charity. Anyone can access the internet, and the majority of people do so daily. And with the growing numbers of people becoming fans of online bingo every day, especially those outside the stereotypes of traditional bingo players, they are probably one of the best positions of any industries to do this. All in all, bingo is a good industry to support: the more people it attracts, both in Britain and all over the world, the more people are likely to take part when money is being raised for charity.
